It's Different, even here

The week before I left Germany this summer I asked some friends what it was like returning to America after having lived several years overseas. One friend shared how she found herself observing American culture like a foreign culture, like she had been doing her first few years in host country.

I have found myself doing this.

From driving, (pass on the LEFT!), to grocery shopping (9 types of orange juice to choose from? and I don't have to bag my own stuff?) and from baking (of course I used a box mix, how else do you bake a cake?), to lots of other little things that I either forgot about or that changed since I have been gone.

Some changes are more personal; like all the babies that have been born since I've been gone.

And while I have been a little overwhelmed at moments by how different everything seems, I guess the real difference is me.
