God Singing

     The house if very quiet, my typing is the only noise in the house. A neighbor is playing some dance music rather loudly. I can hear the rain through and on the window, falling from the roofs and plinking into puddles. Birds are singing and probably telling each other where the worms can be found (poor worms).
     It's nice.
     I know for many of you having a quiet house to yourself is unheard of, quite literally unheard.
     I have it quite a bit. I am not saying that to rub it in, but to remind myself to not take it for granted. There are days when all three of us are home and working and using the phone and listening to or making music and the cat is meowing to be let in and out 100 times. It is not so quiet then. Times when I cannot just sit and enjoy the sound of the rain and the birds (and the neighbor's dance music). But for right now, these are the sounds God has given me to hear.
     This morning a passage from Zephaniah was read over us as a blessing. The last verse was Zephaniah 3:17-
"The LORD your God is with you,
the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you;
in his love he will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing."

      This is the only verse in the Bible where it mentions God singing over us.
      I like to think that God is singing to me through His creation right now, through the rain, the birds and even the neighbors. God speaks to us in different ways, leads us and instructs us not only through His Holy Word, but also through people, life situations, etc. I believe He rejoices over us in different ways as well.
     How is God singing over you? Is it your child's laughter? Is it in the wind rushing through the trees? Or birds singing their spring songs? Is it your spouse saying "I love you"? Or maybe a friend calling you up to encourage you? Is it a sermon or Bible verse you hear? Maybe your neighbor's music?
     Even if it's not 'quiet', we can listen for God. Listen for Him and maybe you will hear Him singing over you.
