Last week there were a couple of goodbye parties for some really cool people. These two couples are heading off to answer God's calls on their lives; one couple to Berlin, the other a bit further away to Asia. Saying goodbye to them and chatting with them about the whole process of preparing to leave reminded me of when I went through all that to come to Germany, and how I will be doing it all again when I move on to where God is leading me next.
In the midst of leave taking and thinking about my own goodbyes, there was a 'hello-again' to be had. One of our friends, who just made her big exist last fall, came back to wish her friends well before they made their big exits. It was nice to have a hello again. It was comforting to be reminded, that while addresses change, friendship remains. I made this friend promise to come back to town for my goodbye party, because I know it will be nice to have a 'hello-again' amidst all the goodbyes.
