English Camp 2010 is already over! After so many months of preparations and endless waiting, the week is over in the blink of an eye. It really was a great week, with great teamwork all around, and wonderful campers! :) Several of the older kids were asking on the last day if it was too early to sign up for the Teen's English Camp next summer! I loved being really able to communicate with the kids this summer, in English and in German. I am looking forward to and hoping to see many of the kids again throughout the year.

This sweet girl came to the camp understanding English (she has an American parent), but not talking. By the end of the week she was helping her teachers translate!
Here is a picture from out outdoor action day. It is also a picture of a culture difference from America, I do not know of a VBS or day camp that would hand saws and pocket knives to kids and tell them to make themselves a boat!
But it works in Germany! Here is one of my students proudly displaying her 'island boat', complete with palm tree.
The theme of the camp was "echt. stark!", which means "real. strong!" We wanted the kids to hear and learn that God created each of them with special and different gifts and abilities, and God loves them the way they are. It was great seeing kids who were 'too cool for school' goofing off with at the end of the week, and to see wall flowers gabbing away with friends.
